Alongside the Switch 2, Nintendo also announced a couple of accessories for the new handheld gaming console, one of which is the new Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. The new controller brings a handful of upgrades but also seems to miss out on another expected one.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller comes in black but not see-through like the first-generation model. It also has a bit of white at the top where the triggers and shoulder buttons are. The button and joystick layout is largely the same, save for the addition of the new C Button
found on the Joy-Con 2 and two customizable rear buttons dubbed GL and GR.
The biggest addition is the 3.5mm audio jack. This makes sense since there is now a built-in chat feature and games that require using voice input. Nintendo doesn't reveal any other features but it is expected that the controller will have HD rumble 2, Amiibo support, a gyroscope, and the ability to wake up the Switch 2.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is reported to cost $80 when it launches, a bump in price compared to the $69.99 of the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Although it is expected that there will be cheaper third-party controllers from brands such as 8BitDo, GameSir, PowerA, and CRKD for the Switch 2, even though none has been announced yet.
Nintendo also didn't say when it will be available, although there's a chance it will be released on the same day as the Switch 2 which is on June 5, 2025.
