Earlier this year, 8BitDo announced the Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller with new features such as TMR joysticks and tactile bumpers. However, the controller is only compatible with Windows (via a wired connection or the included 2.4GHz wireless receiver) and Android (via Bluetooth) devices. Now, a second version dubbed the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller with compatibility for the Nintendo Switch has been announced.
The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller has the same design as the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless, save for the Bluetooth version having the Switch's button layout. It is also available in Black and White whereas the wireless version comes in Purple alongside the aforementioned colors.

With respect to features, the Bluetooth version also has TMR joysticks, Hall Effect triggers (and non-linear tactile triggers), tactile bumpers, two pro-level back paddle buttons, additional R4 and L4 bumpers, and RGB Fire Rings. It has motion control (Switch only) but not 6-axis motion control like the wireless version. Another major difference is that the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth doesn't have the '8Speed' proprietary feature and 1000Hz polling rate support available on the wireless version, despite it having a 2.4GHz wireless receiver in the box.
With respect to compatibility, the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth is compatible with the Nintendo Switch via Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless or via a wired connection and Windows via 24GHz wireless and wired USB. It isn't compatible with Android devices like the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless. It also doesn't have SteamOS support like its predecessor, the 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth Controller.
The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller is available on 8BitDo's eShop and on Amazon for $69, $10 more than the wireless version. It comes with a charging dock and a 2.4GHz wireless receiver in the box.
