Other than the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, Nintendo also announced the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera, a brand new accessory for the Switch 2. The accessory which will be sold separately will not only work as a communication device but also be required to play some minigames.
The Switch 2 Camera is a wired accessory that sits on a stand. It comes in black with a matching cable that has a USB-C connector that plugs into the USB-C port of the Switch 2. The camera can be used as a webcam when using the Switch 2's GameChat feature. In this mode, the Switch 2 can either show the player as an overlay over the game they are playing or just as a camera feed. It can also show each player's face when playing multiplayer games.
Nintendo also stated that the Switch 2 Camera can work for up to 4 players when playing a local co-op game such as Mario Party. Another way the Switch 2 Camera works is when playing minigames such as Bowser Live.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Camera will be available on the 5th of June, the same release date as the Switch 2, and it will cost $49.99. As at the time of writing, there's no info on whether the Switch 2 will have support for third-party cameras.
