The 'leak' seems to be the product of a mix of Nintendo dropping hints and sleuthing by fans determined to hunt for cues from the trailer.

Nintendo fans have uncovered some major additions coming to Switch Online’s Nintendo 64 library. A few keen-eyed viewers broke down the CRT filter preview of the Nintendo 64 Trailer released on YouTube. The blurred background featured box art for Nintendo classics, sending fans on a deep digital sleuthing bender.

The news was first reported by @ImakuniVT and corroborated by several community members. According to them, the blurred images resemble box art for classics not yet released for Nintendo Switch Online. Fans analyzed the trailer and concluded that the blurry images contained art for Donkey Kong 64, Forsaken 64, Rayman 2, and Super Smash Bros.

To further support their investigative findings, fans went as far as to add a Gaussian blur to the box art, and the result is similar. While none of these classics have officially been announced for Nintendo Switch Online, the evidence is good enough for fans to get hyped.

However, there remains some skepticism in the community, as Nintendo has previously shown screenshots of apps featuring games that were never re-released. It’s quite possible that the blurred images could be mere placeholders for the trailer released in May.

Still, the timing does seem a bit on point for some titles. Donkey Kong 64’s arrival could coincide with the release of Donkey Kong Bananza. But with so many references made to the Nintendo 64 classic in the latest release, the timing does make sense.

As of now, Nintendo Switch Online’s N64 library boasts over 30 titles, like Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, GoldenEye 007, and Super Mario 64. But the addition of classics like Donkey Kong 64 and Super Smash Bros. could very well fill the glaring gaps in rounding up the Nintendo 64 library.

Despite the accurate breakdown of the blurry box art in the trailer, fans should set their expectations to a minimum, as Nintendo has yet to make an official announcement for further N64 titles.
