We have previously reported on mentionable docking solutions for Apple’s latest Mac Mini, which currently retails for $545 on Amazon. There is certainly no shortage of such accessories, as various options are available for purchase at major retailers. The manufacturer RayCue is now also crowdfunding a new docking station via Kickstarter. Backers can reserve a unit for a pledge of around $150, shipping is expected to kick off in August 2025. The usual financial risks associated with crowdfunding campaigns apply here, but it should be noted that RayCue is a more or less established manufacturer, and not a complete newcomer.
In any case, the most prominently advertised feature of this Mac Mini M4 dock is the built-in display. It measures 1.65 inches and can show information such as charging power, data transfer speeds of connected USB storage devices and SD cards, or details about the SSD or connected monitor. An HDMI port is available for connecting an external 4K monitor at up to 60Hz. Moreover, the connected SSD can hit speeds of up to 1,000 MB/s. Additionally, there are two USB 3.2 Type-A ports with up to 10 Gbit/s.
Both SD and microSD card readers are available, as is a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the front, there are three USB Type-C ports with up to 140, 100 and 30 watts. Power is supplied via a traditional barrel connector, and the connection to the Mac Mini M4 is realized via USB Type-C. Lastly, the Mac Mini does not sit flush on the dock, which is by design and should provide proper ventilation and airflow.
