Over the months following the introduction of the redesigned Mac mini, we have witnessed a plethora of enclosures and docks specifically designed for the Mac mini. For enthusiasts of retro Macs, it appears that we now have yet another option to choose from.
A treat for retro enthusiasts
This new enclosure comes from the brand Wokyis, and its design will undoubtedly please lovers of the original Macintosh from 1984. The case also features a small 5-inch screen placed exactly where the display would've been, making the system appear all the more authentic.
Of course, the display in question is relatively basic, with a resolution of 1280 x 720. It sports the ability to play videos, show lyrics, and serve as a photo frame among others. The display pairs via USB-C, and it is unclear whether it can be used as the primary monitor - although that does seem unlikely.
Mac mini owners can simply slide their Mac into the Wokyis, while MacBook owners will have to run a wire. The enclosure sports a surfeit of ports, including USB-C, HDMI, quad USB-A (10 Gbps), SD (UHS-II), microSD, and an audio jack. Storage expansion is also possible, via the included M.2 port that can accommodate up to 8 TB SSDs (WD Black SN850X curr. $619 on Amazon).
A launch date for the product is not in sight as of this writing, although the system is quite likely to be available in the coming months. Pricing is unclear as well, but considering the features and the niche market, the Wokyis will presumably be priced at a premium.
