Mini PC enthusiasts who are willing to go the macOS route will be pleased to note that the Apple Mac mini with the 10-core M4 SoC is currently available for its lowest-ever price of just $469 on the platform. This specific variant boasts 16 GB of unified memory along with 256 GB of solid-state storage.
Unsurprisingly, neither the memory nor the storage is user-upgradeable. Certain workarounds do exist for increasing the internal storage capacity of the otherwise well-equipped M4 Mac mini, but they are hardly a plug-and-play affair. The ports on offer are pretty decent for a modern Mac, boasting triple Thunderbolt 4 ports, gigabit ethernet, as well as an HDMI port on the back. On the front, dual USB-C and a single headphone jack are present.
Efficient powerhouse: Apple's M4 is the clear MVP
In terms of performance, the Apple M4 SoC with four high-performance and six high-efficiency cores leaves hardly any room for criticism. As synthetic benchmarks, such as Cinebench 2024 indicate, the M4 SoC manages to trade blows with the Ryzen 9 3900X in multi-core performance, while crushing quite literally everything else in single-core performance. The M4 also boasts an onboard 10-core GPU, which should be in the same league as an RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU. External GPUs are out of the question, unsurprisingly.
