Xiaomi is set to launch a new accessory, which is a combination of a power strip and a USB charger. This gadget could very useful device for everyday use, but there’s also plenty of competition with similar features.

Xiaomi has listed a new product called the 20W Power Strip on its official website. Basically, this is a power strip with an integrated USB charger. The model has the usual the Schuko outlets commonly used in Europe, but there might be local variants for other standards. This particular version works in a range of 230 to 250 volts and a frequency of 50Hz. While the listing on Xiaomi's global website is a strong indicator that this accessory will launch soon, it’s not guaranteed to hit every European country. Either way, since this is a fairly common product without any additional smart home features, plenty of similar power strips can be found on Amazon and various other platforms.

Xiaomi specifies a limit of 3,680 watts, which is not surprising and corresponds to a current of 16 amperes at 230 volts. Accordingly, the power strip can also be used for more power-hungry devices. Rather unsurprisingly, the charging power of the USB ports is significantly lower, even for USB standards. These ports provide up to 20 watts when a single USB-C port is used, while the Type-A option maxes out at 18 watts. If more than one port is used, the output drops to a total of 15 watts divided across all three ports. This means the Xiaomi power strip is not suitable to charge bigger devices like laptops via USB. Last but not least, the physical switch can be used to turn off the 20W power strip.
