Retroid has finally confirmed availability for the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 version of the Pocket Flip 2. Showcased alongside the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 model throughout pre-release teasers, Retroid then outlined that Dimensity 1100 models would be available a month after the Pocket Flip 2 was launched in March. While that did not come to pass, Retroid has since updated the Pocket Mini with a V2 variant that addresses display issues that occurred on its V1 variant (curr. $229 on Amazon).
Now, Retroid has confirmed that the Dimensity 1100 version of the Pocket Flip 2 will finally be available to order starting July 9 at 01:00 UTC. Typically, this new version will run to $30 less than the existing Snapdragon 865 variant, thanks to a $199 starting price. However, early adopters will be able to take $20 off using coupon code FLIP2SAVE20 until July 11 and $10 with FLIP2SAVE10 thereafter before August 9.
In short, three differences exist between Dimensity 1100 and Snapdragon 865 versions of the Pocket Flip 2. For one, the Dimensity 1100 offers Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity compared with Bluetooth 5.1 for its Snapdragon 865 sibling. Wired charging drops from 27 W to 18 W though, despite retaining the same 5,000 mAh battery and 5.5-inch AMOLED display. Finally, the Dimensity 1100 variant will likely trail existing Snapdragon 865 units by 10% in GPU-heavy tasks but 22% in CPU workloads.
