Tokyo Game Show 2025 is shaping up to be one of the largest in the event’s history as PlayStation, Sega, and Square Enix have been officially confirmed as exhibitors. The event is scheduled for September 25 to 28 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, and will host a staggering 772 exhibitors spanning across 4,083 booths.
This year's figures surpass 2024’s, making it the largest Tokyo Game Show to date. Of the 772 exhibitors, 299 are from outside of Japan. Moreover, it’s rumored that Sony is bringing some big surprises to the table as the company is participating in both the Family Game and Indie Game Area.
While not much is known about Sony’s involvement in the indie space, the company has a history of partnering up with small developers, bringing their titles to PS Plus on day one. A few notable examples include Resogun, Rocket League, Fall Guys, and Dave the Diver.
Sega and Square Enix will also be in the spotlight alongside Capcom, Kojima Productions, and Bandai Namco. It’s speculated that Sega will offer a sneak peek into Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, which launches on September 25, 2025. Moreover, rumors suggest we might see a new Jet Set Radio title and an announcement for Persona 6.
Kojima Productions is expected to shed more light on its upcoming action-espionage title, Physint, for PS5, as well as the Xbox-backed horror title, OD. Capcom is rumored to release in-game footage for Resident Evil Requiem, slated for February 27, 2026.
Moreover, this year’s Tokyo Game Show is themed “Unlimited, Neverending Playground,” featuring artwork from illustrator Zashiki Warashi. Warashi shared his excitement about being a part of Tokyo Game Show 2025:
“I am truly happy to have received so many reactions to the teaser illustration. I drew it with a feeling of gratitude toward those involved in game production. I put my heart into it despite the pressure of such a prestigious event like TGS. I would be happy if visitors to TGS enjoy it even a little.”
With juggernauts like Square Enix, Sega, and Sony confirmed for Tokyo Game Show 2025’s lineup, we might get to see some new game announcements and gameplay reveals.
