A recent job posting from Sony Interactive Entertainment, fueled the speculations that many other big titles from Sony are soon going to be coming to Xbox and Nintendo as well. However, a recent claim by known Sony Playstation insider thinks that Xbox users are not going to be seeing God of War on the Series X or S anytime soon.
With the release of Helldivers 2 confirmed for Xbox Series consoles, followed soon after by a job opening for a Senior Director of Multiplatform & Account Management, it was natural for people online to put two and two together and conclude that Sony exclusives would now also be coming to Xbox alongside PC.
But known industry insider Shinobi602 has since downplayed the broader excitement, suggesting that the listings likely pertain to smaller-scale titles and live service games rather than Sony’s flagship IPs.
In a ResetEra thread, Shinobi602 agreed with a user who suggested that Sony might be easing its strict exclusivity policy, but only for certain types of games. According to the post, the shift likely applies to Games-as-a-Service (GaaS) titles and smaller spin-offs that could be released on Xbox or Nintendo Switch. Shinobi backed this interpretation.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is aggressively pursuing a multiplatform strategy of its own. Titles like Forza Horizon 5 and Hi-Fi Rush have made their way to PlayStation consoles, while Gears of War: Reloaded is scheduled to launch on PS5 on August 26, 2025.
Sony’s shift toward multiplatform publishing doesn’t mean it’s walking away from exclusivity. At the 2025 Fireside Chat, PlayStation boss Hideaki Nishino reaffirmed that PlayStation hardware remains the company’s “central pillar.” Meanwhile, Worldwide Studios head Hermen Hulst emphasised that Sony will be thoughtful in its approach, prioritising quality and brand identity while expanding to new platforms to reach broader audiences.
