Arrowhead and Sony have confirmed Helldivers 2 is finally landing on Xbox Series S|X. Pre-orders are now open, and the game will be playable in late August.

Despite its live service nature, Helldivers 2 continues to stay relevant in an era when similar titles have been dropping like flies. After a major update that added the Illuminate faction, Arrowhead has now revitalised its flagship title by launching it on an entirely new platform: the Xbox Series S|X. It confirms a leak from last year that stated Sony would bring Helldivers 2 to its rival platform.

Like its PC and PlayStation 5 counterparts, Helldivers 2 will be available in two editions: Standard and Super Citizen. The latter gets you an exclusive in-game tag that you can show off, an extra Premium Warbond, an extra piece of armour, a weapon and most importantly, the ability to practice Strategems on your ship. The last perk is handy because most of the powerful Strategems, like the Orbital Laser and 380 mm cannons, require complex, lightning-quick inputs in the heat of battle.

You can pre-order Helldivers 2 for the Xbox Series S|X now and play the game on August 26 for $40 (Standard Edition) and $60 (Super Citizen Edition). You can buy the Standard Edition and get the Super Citizen upgrade later, if necessary. Sony and Arrowhead's choice of date is intriguing because it coincides with the release of Gears of War Reloaded, a former Xbox exclusive, on the PS5 and other platforms.
