Helldivers 2 Xbox port teased by industry insider

Sony's decision to release Helldivers 2 on PC and PlayStation simultaneously paid off bigtime, with the game being lauded as one of the best live service titles launched in recent years. In the latest XboxEra podcase episode, industry insider Shpeshal_Nick has some good news for Xbox players.

The leaker says that there have been "very, very early, preliminary discussions" about bringing Helldivers 2 to Xbox. It will be possible, in part, due to Sony's new CEO, Nick adds. Unfortunately, there's no telling when the launch will happen. It won't be anytime soon, as Arrowhead is busy keeping Helldivers 2 functional on PC and PlayStation.

Plus, Arrowhead suffered from lack of server capacity at launch, and the addition of a third platform will add extra burden to the game's already stressed infrastructure. While Helldivers 2 is an excellent game overall, many of its in-game mechanics (especially ones involving cross-platform play) are still broken and Arrowhead needs to fix those before attempting an Xbox port.
