President of Xbox since late October 2023, Sarah Bond has recently set up a special team that will handle future-proofing the digital Xbox game libraries. The task of this team will not end anytime soon, as they will continue to ensure that old titles will remain compatible with future Xbox hardware as well.

Back in 2017, Sarah Bond joined Microsoft as a corporate vice president in charge of partnerships and gaming business development for Xbox. After moving to the position of corporate vice president of game creator experience and ecosystem, Bond played a key role as Microsoft's representative during the company's bid to acquire Activision Blizzard. In 2022, she also testified at the FTC vs. Microsoft trial. At the end of October 2023, she was promoted to president of Xbox, thus reporting directly to Phil Spencer, Microsoft Gaming CEO. Now, she's taking the steps needed to ensure a smooth future for old titles on existing and next-gen Xbox hardware.

According to emails that were received by Windows Central and then confirmed by Microsoft to be genuine, Sarah Bond made it clear once again that next-gen Xbox hardware will be developed to deliver "the biggest technical leap ever in a generation," but that doesn't take out backward compatibility either. In fact, she also confirmed that a special team dedicated to this task is now in place. Bond: "We are building on our strong history of delivering backwards compatibility to our players, and we remain committed to bringing forward the amazing library of Xbox games for future generations of players to enjoy."

In the same emails mentioned above, it was also mentioned that the acquisition of Activision Blizzard was a very smart move with great results for Microsoft. Thanks to this move and the game's inclusion in Xbox Game Pass, Xbox is now the best platform for Diablo 4. The Xbox team is now working on Battle.net integration while launching CoD: Warzone Mobile and getting ready for upcoming titles such as Hellblade II, Avowed, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Those interested can currently grab the 1 TB Xbox Series S in Carbon Black (wireless controller included) for $339.99 instead of $379.99 (11% discount).
