Suicide Squad could be discontinued early due to its failure
The superhero game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has received pretty mixed reviews since its release on February 2, 2024. A third-person action shooter from the creators of the acclaimed Batman: Arkham series, it puts players in the role of members of the Suicide Squad, including Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark. Their mission: to kill the manipulated Justice League, which is controlled by the villain Brainiac.
Although the game, developed by Rocksteady and published by Warner Games, offers a compelling story, it has been criticized by critics and gamers for its repetitive and uninspired gameplay mechanics. On Metacritic it achieved a Metascore of 60 and a User Score of 3.6. On Steam on the other hand, it received mostly positive reviews with 76 percent of over 5,000 ratings.
Due to its failure so far, the end of the game could come sooner than expected, at least according to an X-Post (formerly Twitter) by the well-known and credible leaker Miller Ross, who claims that the planned fifth season of the game will also be the last. He is basing this on unnamed sources.
This storyline concludes in the game's 5th season, when the reassembled Justice League join forces with ARGUS to end Brainiac's multiversal reign of terror. Sources tell me that this will likely serve as the game's finale, with the recent season 1 doing little to reignite sales.

The fourth season, which according to Ross will start in January 2025, will include the introduction of Deathstroke as a playable character. The fifth and final season is expected to begin in April 2025 and will bring the story to a conclusion with the newly formed Justice League teaming up with A.R.G.U.S. to defeat Brainiac. Whether this will actually happen remains to be seen. There are no official statements regarding an early end to Suicide Squad.
