Xbox Games Showcase 2024 date announced alongside separate stream for possibly Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War

Xbox has announced a new Xbox Games Showcase for 2024 cheekily titled “Xbox Games Showcase followed by [REDACTED] Direct”. As is evident from the heading, Xbox will be holding two presentations: One main showcase for all 1st and 3rd party games and a second presentation dedicated solely to an unnamed project. The format is not new as the company aired the Starfield Direct right after the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 last year.

The Xbox Games Showcase 2024 date is set for June 9 and viewers can catch it live on Xbox’s YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook pages at 10 am PT/ 1 pm ET/ 7 pm CET. The second showcase for the secret title will take place immediately after.

The Xbox Games Showcase 2024 will contain games from the company’s 1st party studios including Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, and Activision/Blizzard. We may also get to see some new hardware announcements, as last year the company revealed the 1 TB Xbox Series S (Buy it on Amazon).

Xbox has a lot of titles cooking up. For instance, there are games like Perfect Dark, State of Decay 3, and Everwild that we have seen too little of and are due for an update. Then there are titles like Clockwork Revolution and South of Midnight that debuted last year.

Fable, one of the most anticipated games being developed by Playground Games, has been in development since at least 2017. The game should be present at the showcase with, hopefully, extensive gameplay footage and a release date. Additionally, chances are quite high that we’ll get the release date for Starfield’s first DLC expansion “Shattered Space” which is arriving in the fall, Avowed, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Rumors are also swirling about “Gears 6”, the next entry in the long-running Gears of War series, getting revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase 2024. The Coalition, the studio behind the franchise, has been quiet since dropping Gears 5 in 2019. If and when Gears 6 does get announced, we can expect the game to have mind-blowing visuals as The Coalition is no stranger to delivering breathtaking results with the Unreal Engine.

Finally, with more than 30 total studio under Xbox's wing, there is plenty of potential for surprise announcements. So, even your wildest wishes, like a new Banjo-Kazooie, can come true.

While Xbox has given no hints regarding which title will be showcased during the second presentation, many believe it to be the next installment of Call of Duty.

For folks who are out of the loop, Call of Duty gets a new entry every year with the last three games being Call of Duty: Vanguard (2021), Modern Warfare II (2022), and Modern Warfare III (2023). This year’s CoD is rumored to be a Black Ops game called “Black Ops Gulf War”.

Unfortunately, we don’t know a lot of details about the Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War, if it is even called that.

Lastly, Call of Duty was at the center of Microsoft’s fight with the FTC regarding the Activision/Blizzard acquisition. So, it will be interesting to see if the company keeps Call of Duty completely multiplat or if Xbox/Game Pass gets some exclusive content.
