UnlockSwitch: New Nintendo flashcart still in development following denouncements by MIG Switch team
The MIG Switch is only a few months old, having been introduced at the start of the year. Additionally, the developers behind the flashcart introduced the MIG Switch Dumper, which appears to have a few additional use cases other than its name suggests. Please note that the MIG Switch and MIG Switch Dumper can be purchased independently as a package.
Now, a rival to the MIG Switch has emerged, dubbed 'UnlockSwitch'. Seemingly, the road to market is proving a rocky one for the developers of the latter. Having sent UnlockSwitch examples to some reviewers, it appeared that its developers had merely cloned or even repackaged the MIG Switch. To that end, the MIG Switch team stated that the UnlockSwitch project was a scam despite the former's questionable origins.
Subsequently, Unlock Switch posted an open letter refuting MIG Switch's claims, adding that MIG Switch opened a fake UnlockSwitch YouTube and a website through which it took pre-orders, among other accusations. Moreover, UnlockSwitch has shared what it reports are the final specifications of its flashcart, which includes a new PCB design, new ICs and an on/off switch that negates the MIG Switch's need to eject the cartridge to switch between games. Please see the UnlockSwitch Twitter page for more details.
