The Vobot Mini Dock is now crowdfunding on Kickstarter. The accessory combines a 7-in-1 docking station with a 2-inch 320 x 240 px IPS display and is designed to help you work more efficiently. With 23 days to go, the campaign has over 700 backers, surpassing its S$5,000 (~$3,700) funding goal to raise over S$80,000 (~$59,000).
Ports on the Vobot Mini Dock include 4K@60Hz HDMI, USB-C uplink with PD 90W charging, Gigabit Ethernet, three USB 3.0 for peripherals and a PD 100W input. There is a wide range of apps for the Mini Dock, providing features like a Pomodoro Timer, integration with the Todoist app, PC hardware performance, weather forecasts and stock market information. There is also a game emulator for retro titles like Tetris and a “Now Playing” mode if you listen to music. Apps are downloadable via a dedicated store, and you can code your own with MicroPython. Plus, the display can mirror or extend your computer screen, depending on the connected device’s OS.
According to Vobot, the Mini Dock is compatible with Windows macOS, Linux, iOS, iPadOS and Android devices. At the time of writing, the minimum pledge level, Early Bird, is priced at S$75 (~$55), 21% off the S$93 (~$69) MSRP. The company is shipping the product worldwide, with delivery currently estimated for July 2024. It is worth noting that taking part in crowdfunding campaigns is a risk, as you are not guaranteed to receive the product. Another factor to consider is that this is Vobot’s first Kickstarter project.
