A teaser on Housemarque's X handle suggests a potential Returnal sequel or DLC might be on the way soon. It simply says "tomorrow", which refers to April 30, the game's third anniversary.

Housemarque's Returnal was one of the first AAA PlayStation 5 exclusive to hit shelves shortly after the console's release. It was launched on April 30 2021. Two years later, it came to PC, once again, as one of the first PS5 exclusives on the platform. The company has now put out a cryptic teaser on its X handle, tacitly hinting at something Returnal-related. It shows what appears to be the game's protagonist Selene looking through a helmet visor.

An announcement for a Returnal sequel seems likely, because tomorrow marks the original's third anniversary. The chances of it being DLC are somewhat low because it makes little sense to put it out this late into the launch cycle. Nevertheless, it is a win-win for Returnal fans as Housemarque has been largely silent after the game's release. If announced, the putative Returnal sequel is unlikely to launch anytime soon.

Earlier this year, Sony already confirmed none of its first-party titles would get a sequel. Returnal falls under that criteria because Housemarque is fully owned by Sony. Then again, the mystery game might be an expandalone (portmanteau of standalone and expansion)  title like Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales or Far Cry: New Dawn. Or it could be something as underwhelming as a PS VR 2 port.
