Arrowhead Game Studios has announced a significant content update for Helldivers 2, introducing a new faction of enemies - the Illuminate. Plus, the update also includes long-requested weapon customization features and the upcoming Masters of Ceremony Warbond, set to launch May 15th.
The Illuminate threat emerges from the Meridian singularity, bringing with it -
- Stingray jetfighters, which perform aerial strafing runs
- Crescent Overseers, capable of heavy bombardment on hiding Helldivers
- Fleshmobs, grotesque abominations stitched together from Voteless remains
Additional larger enemy units have also been teased, but remain under classified observation. To combat the threat, players now gain access to weapon customization for most primary weapons -
- Weapons now gain levels through missions
- New unlocks include sights, muzzles, under-barrel attachments, ammo capacity tweaks, and cosmetic patterns
- Customization allows players to fine-tune their gear for performance and style
Further, the Masters of Ceremony Warbond introduces CQC-2 Sabre, a melee-focused combat blade and R-2 Amendment, a hybrid primary weapon with a bayonet. Plus, players can get additional boosters, stratagems, throwables, and elite military-themed cosmetics.
In addition to this, the old Warbonds like Viper Commandos, Freedom’s Flame, and Truth Enforcers also receive new patterns and FRV skins.
Another major update here is that the Superstore has undergone an emergency expansion, making all items permanently accessible without waiting on rotations. This bold move gives players uninterrupted access to previously time-limited content - and this upgrade has been added based on player feedback.
As mentioned earlier, the new Helldivers 2 update will go live on May 15th. The game was released in February 2024, and is available on PlayStation 5 and Windows PC.
