Helldivers 2 is 20% off on Steam for a limited time
If you have resisted the urge to jump into Helldivers 2, Sony is dangling a big 20% off carrot to get you to enlist. There hasn't been any other game in the last few years that has embodied the "We're so back!" and "We're done!" memes.
It's a small miracle that the game continues to hang on by a thread despite Sony doing its best to kill it. It started with the forced PSN requirement, then Sony walked that back but delisted the game from 177 regions. In between, some patches almost killed the game, and now it's barely clinging to life after shedding more than 90% of its player base.
The game currently has a peak of 40,000 odd players on Steam, down from the monolithic heights of nearly 500,000 players just 12 months ago. Sony, as is often the case, has been slow to respond, walking back restrictions in 44 of the 177 regions.
Arrowhead's CEO posted on X that they were looking for solutions with Sony last year, but it appears little has come of it. What's sad is that Helldivers 2 is a pretty good time with friends. The combat is fun. There is tons of content on offer, the battle pass called "Warbonds" is purely cosmetic, and the game has a cheeky sense of humor that makes it fun to partake in.
The 20% off deal is valid till 12th February.
