A February Nintendo Direct has become sort of a tradition, but its fate for this year remains up in the air. Nintendo already promised a Switch 2 presentation on April 2nd. However, the current console's release schedule is light, making players anxious for news on Switch titles. Unfortunately, analyst Nate the Hate, who has predicted past developments, is casting doubt on the next Nintendo Direct happening this month.
Last month, Nate the Hate and other sources believed a February Nintendo Direct was likely. Among his other successes, Nate the Hate foretold the arrival of the Nintendo Music streaming service. Another popular leaker, PH Brazil, also seemed certain the company would have one final Switch showcase to boost slumping sales. Still, Nate the Hate recently posted on X that he has yet to hear any news that confirms the event.
Nintendo typically uses these opportunities to introduce new games or hardware. Even though a 2025 Switch 2 release date is promised, gamers were hoping for more tidbits on titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. While the game may benefit from boosted Nintendo Switch 2 specs, it was expected to be current-gen compatible.
Gamers shouldn't feel too dejected since there are more Nintendo-related events in the works. Another Pokemon Day is penciled in for February 27th. Fans have their hopes set on a Pokemon Legends: Z-A update. The one-year anniversary of the game's announcement is approaching, with few details revealed since.
It's still possible that a Nintendo Direct could happen in February. Yet, as the days dwindle, Nintendo is really leaving confirmation of the show to the last minute this time.
