With the Nintendo Switch 2 expected in the second half of 2025, its approaching launch is already affecting hardware sales. Fewer buyers are opting for the current Switch (available on Amazon for $299), now eight years old, causing a recent sales drop of about one-third.
Despite the upcoming hardware transition, the Nintendo Switch remains a key part of Nintendo’s game lineup. The latest financial report confirms that three major first-party titles are still set to launch on the console in 2025. Fans can look forward to:
- Xenoblade Chronicles X - launches on March 20, 2025
- Pokémon Legends: Z-A - set for 2025, exact date TBD
- Metroid Prime 4 Beyond - set for 2025, exact date TBD
The confirmation is especially significant for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which has already faced delays and a studio change during development. Pokémon Legends: Z-A also raised concerns, as little information has surfaced since its announcement on February 28, 2024, leading to speculation about a possible delay.
Release dates for the new Metroid and Pokémon games are still unknown, but two upcoming events could bring more details: Pokémon Day on February 27 and the next Nintendo Direct on April 2. Until then, it remains unclear whether Nintendo has more unannounced Switch titles in the works or if the focus will fully shift to the new hardware after the Direct.
