Acebeam has introduced a new everyday-carry (EDC) flashlight. The UC20 has a flat housing with a belt clip that can also be used on hats with a visor cap. The design is somewhat reminiscent of the Nitecore EDC2x and Olight Arkfeld series.
A unique feature of the UC20 are the three light sources. The primary light has a maximum output of 1,000 lumens, and there are additional lamps that emit UV and red light.
Unfortunately, the new Acebeam EDC flashlight sports a non-replaceable, built-in battery that can be fully recharged via USB Type-C in 1.2 hours. The battery has a capacity of 1,000 mAh, which is approximately 3.6 to 3.7 watt-hours and relatively small for a flashlight. However, since the UC20 doesn’t need much power, the capacity is sufficient for a decent runtime.
Case in point, the primary LED can provide 5 lumens for 63 hours. At an output of 60 lumens, this number decreases to 8 hours, while 200 and 450 lumens result in 2.5 hours and 1 hour of runtime, respectively. However, the turbo mode drains the battery very quickly and only lasts for two minutes. After that, 450 lumens are available for an additional 54 minutes.
On the other hand, the red LED is quite power-hungry. A mere 8 lumens last for 4.3 hours, while 23 lumens fully deplete the battery in just 1.1 hours. Meanwhile, the UV light has a maximum runtime of 2.3 hours.
According to the manufacturer, the UC20 is rugged and can be submerged in up to 6.5 ft of water. Acebeam is currently selling the new UC20 at its official shop for $59.90. The flashlight is EDC available in both green and black.
