Nitecore is expanding its lineup of carbon fiber power banks with a particularly lightweight model. The so-called NB Air weighs less than 3.5oz and easily fits into pockets. Additionally, the company has unveiled a new USB cable.

Nitecore has officially unveiled the new NB Air power bank at IWA 2025 in Germany. The gadget is particularly small and light as it weighs just 3.2oz but features a carbon fiber case that is still supposed to be robust. The new power bank also measures just 0.4 inches in height and fits well into the palm of a hand or even pants pockets.

For the battery level indicator, Nitecore has integrated four blue LEDs that can be activated with the press of a button. A USB Type-C port can be used for charging devices and the power bank itself. Needless to say, compromises in terms of capacity have to be made with this rather compact size. It's just 19.4 watt-hours, or 5,000mAh at 3.88 volts to be more exact. Due to the higher voltage, the power bank’s capacity is slightly higher than those of typical 5,000mAh batteries, which usually offer 18 to 18.4Wh.

The capacity of the NB Air should be sufficient for charging a medium-sized smartphone. Nitecore usually also specifies the "rated capacity" or "rated energy" at 5 volts for smartphones and similar devices. This Wh number is typically lower, but it is more meaningful than the actual capacity. That being said, the spec sheet for the NB Air power bank is not yet available. Be that as it may, the power bank is scheduled to launch in March 2025. Nitecore has not disclosed the eventual MSRP.

In other news, Nitecore also plans to launch a USB-C cable that can be attached to a keychain via two magnets on the plugs. A cap to protect the USB plugs from debris should also be included. Nitecore has not brought this new cable to IWA, pricing info is also unavailable at this point.
