The selection of power banks is downright vast nowadays, with online retailers like Amazon offering many compact models at affordable prices. The Cowzry is a pint-sized power bank currently seeking backers through a crowdfunding campaign. Those who pledge $39 or more will receive a unit, expected to start shipping in June 2025. Even though this isn’t the first crowdfunding campaign created by the team behind it, it's important to be aware of the inherent financial risk associated with such projects.
Measuring 7 x 2 x 2 cm (2.8 x 0.8 x 0.8 in) and weighing just 80 g (2.8 oz), the Cowzry can be easily attached to items like a key ring thanks to its compact size and integrated carry loop. Rather than being made of fabric, this loop also functions as a built-in charging cable, eliminating the need to worry about forgetting your cable at home.
Due to physical limitations in energy density, such a compact device inevitably comes with compromises in capacity. The 3,000 mAh power bank isn’t quite able to fully charge a smartphone. It also lacks support for ultra-high-speed charging and can only supply up to 15 watts over the integrated cable. However, the Cowzry power bank can wirelessly charge a compatible Apple Watch at up to 3 watts. Instead of relying on a coloured LED, the device features a real display to show the percentage of battery charge remaining.
