Fenix has officially put its new 21700 batteries with particularly high capacity on sale. Their capacity increases from 18 to 21.6Wh, but the battery is also slightly thicker. Additionally, a new variant that doesn’t require a special charger is in development.

At IWA 2025 in Germany, Fenix confirmed that its new 21700 batteries with 21.6Wh (6,000mAh at 3.6 volts) are now officially available. These cylindrical batteries with the SKU "ARB-L21-6000" follow the company’s 18650 batteries with 14.4Wh/4,000mAh, which have been available for some time now.

The latter are already available in two different variants. One features an integrated USB Type-C port, the other doesn’t. This choice isn’t available with these new batteries. In an interview with Notebookcheck, Fenix asserted that the USB-C version of its 21700 batteries is still coming. Fenix further stated that this cell will be slightly longer due to the required USB charging hardware. Otherwise, both batteries are identical.

According to the official spec sheet, the battery retains 75% of its original capacity after 500 charge cycles. Moreover, it weighs 2.8oz and measures 0.87 x 3.02 inches, making it slightly thicker than the brand’s 5000 series, which measures 0.85 inches in diameter. According to Fenix, the ARB-L21-6000 is compatible with the following flashlights and others: Fenix TK22R, Fenix HT18R, Fenix HT32, Fenix PD40R V3.0, Fenix PD36R V2.0 and LD45R. Before using these batteries other devices, precise measurements should be taken.

Until now, Fenix only offered 21700 batteries with 18Wh or less. Therefore, Fenix is one of the latecomers when it comes to the 21700 battery segment, especially compared to competitors such as Nitecore. For example, the competing NL2160 battery has been available since late January 2024.

Be that as it may, the new lithium-ion battery are now orderable for $24.95 per unit at Fenix's official online store. Surprisingly, this is the exact same price as the aforementioned 5000mAh variant with 18Wh.
