Acebeam is also making progress with its cylindrical batteries, albeit slowly. Case in point, the company has now introduced two new 21700 batteries. One offers a high capacity, while the other delivers high current. But only one is compatible with the new Battery Storage Box.

Acebeam has introduced two new cylindrical batteries on its product page. One variant has 5,000 mAh and 30 A (18 Wh, 3.6 V) for applications that require a lot of power, while the other offers 5,600 mAh (20 Wh, 3.59 V) and 15 A. The latter is not a record for 21700 batteries, as Nitecore and Fenix have been offering around 22 Wh for some time. For Acebeam, however, the 20 Wh battery is a significant increase.

In fact, 21700 batteries with 18 Wh (5,000 mAh at 3.6 V) are still very common and can be found in many power banks with two cells, for example, either as 10,000 mAh at 3.6 V or 5,000 mAh at 7.2 V. Larger power banks in the "20,000 mAh" class also often use four 21700 cells.

Anyone with a power bank that has slots for 21700 batteries could increase its capacity this way. However, the slots should be measured very carefully beforehand, as 21700 batteries do not always fit all holders.

Both models weigh around 2.6 oz. Interestingly, only the 20 Wh model is compatible with Acebeam’s new A2 Battery Storage Box, which allows the batteries to be charged directly. Acebeam also promises several safety mechanisms for secure operation.

Acebeam charges around $22 for the higher-capacity battery, while the more powerful model costs $23. Buying two batteries of the same type saves a few more dollars. Furthermore, the A2 Portable Storage Box with USB-C port has been available for some time and costs about $10.
