Acebeam has introduced the EC90, a new EDC flashlight with a throw of up to 626 yards for a short period of time. Specifically, the flashlight can sustain its turbo mode for only 40 seconds before dimming from 4,300 lumens to just 750 lumens.
According to the official data sheet, this mode provides another 2 hours of runtime. Following that, there's an additional hour at 450 lumens. In ultra-low mode and 5 lumens, the flashlight lasts for up to 260 hours. Further battery life details can be found in the embedded picture below. The EC90 is charged via USB-C, and the port is located on the lamp head and is protected by a rubber cover. Meanwhile, the 21700 battery has a capacity of 18.5Wh and is replaceable.
In contrast to the somewhat similar-looking Acebeam E75, which we have already reviewed, the beam is significantly more focused and reaches up to 82,000 candela. The E75 has a similar number of lumens but offers only around 17,000 candela. Furthermore, the Acebeam EDC90 is only equipped with one instead of four LEDs, but it offers similar performance. Acebeam opted for a rather cool white LED with 6,500 Kelvin.
At 8.36 oz, the EC90 is far from lightweight and falls into the heavier category of EDC flashlights. Therefore, it’s more suitable for a backpack trip or similar, rather than an "everyday carry". Despite its weight, it features a two-way clip that can be attached to a cap. According to Acebeam, the new flashlight is also drop-resistant up to 5 feet and protected against dust and water according to the IP68 standard.
The EC90 is already available for purchase and listed as "in stock" at Acebeam's official online store for an MSRP of $109.
