EDC flashlight with swivel head and floodlight mode: Tank007 WK1 now available for pre-order at discount
The Tank007 WK1 features an unusual aluminum housing that is IPX6 certified and so protected against rain, and allows the head of the lamp to be rotated 180 degrees. This not only makes the lamp more ergonomic to hold, but also allows the WK1 to be attached to a metal cabinet or magnetic table using its magnetic base.
The head can then be rotated to use the WK1 as a desk or wall lamp, for example. The Tank007 WK1 supports two modes. In spotlight mode, the lamp generates a brightness of up to 1,400 lumens and a maximum range of 200 meters. In floodlight mode, the brightness drops to 800 lumens, but warmer light is emitted in a larger cone.
Measuring 13 centimeters long and 2.5 centimeters thick, the WK1 is barely larger than a conventional chocolate bar. Weighing 100 grams, the flashlight can easily be carried in a pants or jacket pocket. The 2,600 mAh battery is said to have a runtime of up to 80 hours, but the manufacturer does not specify at what brightness this runtime was determined. Charging is via USB-C.
Price and availability
The Tank007 WK1 EDC flashlight is currently being funded on Kickstarter. As part of the crowdfunding campaign, the flashlight can be pre-ordered for $69, with the retail price set to rise to $139. Tank007 will ship worldwide starting in November, but the price quoted does not include shipping costs, import sales tax or customs duties. Tank007 is an established flashlight manufacturer, but as usual with Kickstarter campaigns, there is still a risk that products may be delivered late, in poor quality or not at all.
