Nitecore has introduced a new power bank, the Carbo 10000 Gen 2, that provides 38.8 watt-hours, of which 35 watt-hours are designed to power devices (rated power). Expressed in milliampere-hours, this is 10,000 mAh @ 3.88 volts or 7,000 mAh @ 5V (3A, 35 Wh), which is the voltage required for the USB-C port.
According to Nitecore, the Carbo 10000 Gen2 owes its increased efficiency to a new internal 9-volt platform and a new battery management system. The power bank is also very robust according to IPX8 and can be submerged in water up to 2 meters deep. At 170 grams, it is also quite light, although not the lightest Nitecore power bank. The older NB Plus weighs 155 grams, and its predecessor weighs 158 grams.
Protected by a carbon fiber composite casing, the new generation model now offers up to 30 watts of output power on the USB-C port instead of the previous 20 watts. The Carbo 10000 Gen 2 supports 5 volts as well as 9, 12 and 15 volts. Interestingly, Nitecore also explicitly specifies 10 volts. However, the other voltages are only available when only one of the two USB-C ports is used. If both are in use, the power bank reverts from USB Power Delivery to USB-C and can only deliver 3A@5V on both ports.
As is often the case, Nitecore does not specify a price. However, the predecessor was priced at around $100, so the Carbo 10000 Gen 2 is likely to be a rather expensive power bank. Lastly, the power bank does not have a CCC logo, so it should not be taken to China.
