At first glance, the TerraBeast M5 appears to be a rather unremarkable flashlight with a black aluminum housing with an IP66 certification, which means that it can be dropped into water without taking damage. However, a more or less unusual feature is the integrated laser.
This laser might be useful for marking a path at night or pointing to an object. It is a class 3R laser, so it should not be pointed into anyone’s eyes. Although lasers of this class can’t be sold in many countries around the world, importing them for private use might be allowed depending on local laws and regulations. That said, users should be careful and make sure not harm anybody with this rather powerful kind of laser.
The flashlight is equipped with four Luxeon HL4X LEDs, which can produce up to 5,200 lumens. This performance is similar to the more expensive Nitecore EDC29, which usually retails for $100 on Amazon. The manufacturer further advertises a throw of up to 293 yards. The advertised battery life of 30 days only applies to the lowest brightness setting, as the runtime will be significantly shorter at higher settings. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not provide any exact numbers here. Anyhow, the 4,500mAh battery can be charged via USB-C.
Price and availability
The TerraBeast M5 flashlight is now crowdfunding on Kickstarter. The early bird offer for the flashlight costs $69 excluding shipping and import fees. Delivery is expected in December 2025. While TerraBeast has successfully funded and delivered the Y1 Pro in the past, the usual financial risks of crowdfunding campaigns apply, as the product could possibly be of inferior quality or not hit the market at all.
