As part of a crowdfunding campaign, a new trackpad called the Hyper TrackPad Pro is currently available for pre-order. It can be operated with your finger and is probably best known for use with notebooks, but there is no reason why it couldn't be used with a PC. Using a trackpad with a PC instead of a mouse is probably rather unusual, but it's more a matter of personal preference. In any case, the device is unlikely to be suitable for video gaming.
Compared to cheaper and simpler trackpads, the Hyper TrackPad Pro features haptic feedback, which means that users receive a tactile response when they make an input. According to the manufacturer, the model can determine not only the click itself, but also the force, which means that other actions can be triggered with a stronger click. The manufacturer highlights the configuration options in particular.
Specifically, the Hyper TrackPad Pro can be divided into different zones. This allows, for example, scrolling or clicking on a part of the trackpad. Shortcuts can be defined and then activated with a click. Since the device itself does not have a display, this naturally requires a certain amount of learning curve. The 166.9 x 103.4 x 13 millimeter system has a battery capacity of 1,000 mAh and is said to last up to four weeks. A sampling rate of 250 Hz is supported.
Potential supporters of the crowdfunding campaign have to spend at least $109, plus shipping costs. The risks associated with crowdfunding campaigns apply, including the possibility that the product may not make it to market or may not function as advertised.
