The AngelEye is a new FPV camera. FPV stands for First Person View, so the camera isn't (just) meant to be handheld, but can be attached to glasses or a bicycle helmet. This allows for immersive recordings, which can be particularly useful for athletes and extreme sports. According to the manufacturer, the AngelEye is the lightest portable FPV camera with 4K resolution and so is a direct competitor to similar action cameras from DJI or GoPro. The manufacturer claims that image stabilization is both optical and electronic.
The 32-gram camera can record videos at 30 frames per second and in 4K resolution. In Full HD, recording is possible at twice the frame rate. The pre-recording function ensures that the seconds before you press the button are automatically saved so that users can capture unplanned moments or fleeting shots. Recording is possible while charging, and the battery life is rated at up to 90 minutes. Images can be captured at a maximum resolution of 8,000 x 6,000 and saved on 64 GB of internal storage.
The device can also be used for live broadcasts, which may be of interest to streamers. Object and gesture recognition are on board, and voice control is also possible. Backers can secure a unit for a super early-bird special of $169, but should also keep in mind the risks of crowdfunding campaigns, including the eventuality the product may never make it to market. Delivery is scheduled for December.
