Igor Bogdanov has provided a first look at one of DJI's next smartphone camera gimbals. To recap, the Osmo Mobile 8 surfaced on Amazon earlier this month. A sign that DJI is preparing to replace the Osmo Mobile 7 (curr. $75 on Amazon), the listing did not show the Osmo Mobile 8's design.
However, Bogdanov has now answered that question across two recent tweets. Embedded below, the tweets reveal retail packaging while also providing a glimpse of what the Osmo Mobile 8 looks like in person. In short, the Osmo Mobile 8 departs from the Osmo Mobile 7 in several areas.
For one, the Osmo Mobile 8 adopts a black casing rather than the beige or grey, as with the Osmo Mobile 7 and the cheaper Osmo Mobile SE. Additionally, the Osmo Mobile 8 features a built-in extension rod, a tripod and a USB Type-C port for charging a smartphone.
Also, DJI's Multifunctional Module returns, which contains an LED light for maximising image quality in low-light conditions and a camera for tracking subjects as needed. At this stage, it seems that DJI has merely re-branded the Osmo Mobile 7P as the Osmo Mobile 8. According to recent rumours, DJI will be launching the Osmo Mobile 8 in November alongside a dedicated Pro model. Presumably, information will leak beforehand that will reveal the differences between the Osmo Mobile 8 and February's Osmo Mobile 7P.
