Recently, speculation emerged that DJI was preparing a triple November release. Emerging earlier this month, the rumour claimed that DJI was finally getting around to releasing the Osmo Mobile 8, Osmo Mobile 8P the Mic 3 Pro and the Neo 2 after two of those three emerged a few months earlier on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US.
However, a new report suggests that none of these will be DJI's next consumer release. Instead, the company is said to be turning to its Osmo Action series with the Osmo Action 6, having introduced the Osmo 360 and Osmo Nano earlier this year (curr. $299 on Amazon). While those represented new form factors for DJI, the Osmo Action 6 should be a return to the conventional action camera with a rectangular body dominated by a single camera and with displays on its front and rear.
To that end, the FCC published images months ago showcasing the Osmo Action 6 from multiple angles. According to The New Camera, multiple sources have informed it that DJI is lining up an October 24 launch event for its next action camera. No concrete evidence to verify this claim has emerged yet, though.
If that is the case, we would expect DJI to release a teaser by October 17 at the latest. Currently, the Osmo Action 6 is tipped to arrive with a 1-inch style camera sensor and a 1,950 mAh battery within a package that could start for around $329 in the US.
