It's no secret at this point that DJI is planning an imminent release of the Osmo Action 6 as its next compact action camera, with previous rumours and leaks pointing to a late October or early November release — although those rumours were called into question in late October already. Now, however, we are starting to see leaks emerge from reputable sources that suggest DJI may be cutting back its combo packages slightly for the next-gen Osmo Action 6.
DJI Osmo Action 6 accessory kits — The same, but different
According to Igor Bogdanov, the DJI Osmo Action 6 will launch with at least two accessory kits — the Adventure Combo and Standard Combo, which are both long-standing combos in DJI's line-up. However, the leaked images of the combos themselves reveal that the accessory kit may have changed, and not just for the combo — for the DJI Osmo Action 6 as a whole.
The biggest notable omission in the Osmo Action 6's combo kits is the lack of a protective cover for the small action cameras. Previous leaks comparing the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro to the Action 6 reveal a sizeable difference in physical proportions, with the Osmo 6 being bigger by a fair margin. Perhaps DJI elected to omit the case from the stock accessory kits because putting on the case may make the otherwise compact camera feel too big. It's also possible that the omission is due to tariff-imposed cost constraints.
Regardless, the Adventure Combo will apparently ship with:
- 3× 1950 mAh Extreme Plus batteries
- 1× 1.5 m extension rod
- 1× Multifunctional Battery Case 2
- 2× Mini Quick-Release Adapter Mount
- 1× Curved Adhesive Base
- 2× Osmo Locking Screw
- 1× Anti-Slip Pad kit
- 1× USB Type-C-to-C cable
Meanwhile, the Standard Combo will feature:
- 1× 1950 mAh Extreme Plus battery
- 1× Mini Quick-Release Adapter Mount
- 1× Curved Adhesive Base
- 1× Osmo Locking Screw
That said, what appears to be an early unboxing of the Osmo Action 6 seems to suggest that the new action camera will ship with a protective cover, after all. No confirmation was shared alongside the early unboxing post, though, so it remains to be seen if this was simply an optional accessory that was also unboxed alongside the Action 6.
Pricing for the Adventure and Standard combos have not been confirmed yet, but the current Osmo Action 5 Pro is available in the Adventure Combo for $499 on Amazon.
Meanwhile, leaks out of Mauro Tandoi, comparing the Action 5 Pro to the Action 6 side-by-side, reveal the true size difference between the two action cameras, also confirming that old lens covers and filters will not be compatible with the new Osmo Action 6, likely thanks to the variable aperture and larger 1/1.1-inch sensor on the new action camera.
