DJI has officially unveiled its latest action camera, the Osmo Action 6, in the global market. The Osmo Action 6 is the company’s first camera of its kind to come with a 1/1.1-inch variable aperture camera. It features a dual OLED display, Rocksteady 3.0+ and HorizonSteady stabilization modes, and a 1,950 mAh battery, which is rated to offer four hours of battery life.

DJI, a well-known Chinese drone and action camera manufacturer, has launched its next-generation action camera, the Osmo Action 6, globally. Unabashedly revealed by DJI in full a few days ago, the action camera comes as a direct successor to last year’s Osmo Action 5 Pro (curr. available at $349 on Amazon), bringing some notable changes in terms of camera hardware and features. This time around, DJI ditched its 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, mostly found on its last two generations of action cameras, such as the Osmo Action 5 Pro and the Osmo Action 4; instead, the company uses a new custom-designed 1/1.1-inch square CMOS sensor.

The sensor offers a 13.5 EV dynamic range and the native 155° field of view for frame-filling point-of-view action shots. Speaking of output, the action camera allows users to capture videos at 4K/60 fps, 4K/120 fps in 4:3 format or 1080p/240 fps to create slow-motion videos and images at 38 MP.  Furthermore, DJI has also introduced the new 4K custom mode, which allows you to record first and then crop the footage to the desired aspect ratio.

The action camera is equipped with RockSteady 3.0, RockSteady 3.0+, HorizonBalancing, and HorizonSteady stabilization modes for improved video stabilization. Unfortunately, there’s no upgrade for the battery life. The Osmo Action 6 still features the same 1,950 mAh battery found on the predecessor. The battery is rated to offer up to 240 minutes (~4 hours) of battery life on a single charge. On top of that, it also supports fast charging, and DJI claims that the camera can be charged from 0 to 80% in just 22 minutes.

Designed for outdoor enthusiasts, travelers, and vloggers in mind, the action camera features 50 GB of internal storage, gesture control, intelligent subject tracking, up to 20 meters of water resistance, direct connection support for up to two DJI microphone transmitters, and a 1.46-inch front and 2.5-inch rear OLED display, delivering a peak brightness of 800 nits.

As for price, the DJI Osmo Action 6 Standard combo starts at €379, which includes the camera, Osmo Action Extreme Battery Plus, Osmo dual-direction quick-release adapter mount, adhesive mount, locking screw, USB-C to USB-C PD cable, and anti-slip pads.

The company also offers the Osmo Action 6 Adventure combo priced at €479. The combo offers everything from the standard bundle plus two additional extreme batteries, an additional dual-direction quick-release adapter mount, a locking screw, Charging Cradle 3 (multifunctional), and the Osmo extension stick (1.5 m). Buyers can now purchase the action camera directly from the DJI online store and other authorized retailers.
