GoPro has updated its Hero action camera range today with the Lit Hero, just over a year after it released the Hero and Hero 13 Black. While the company has not introduced a Hero 14 Black, the Lit Hero has arrived alongside the Max 2, the long-awaited sequel to the Max that initially arrived in 2019.
In short, the Lit Hero carries over many of the features from last year's Hero (curr. $199 on Amazon). For instance, they both measure 56.6 x 29.4 mm. However, the Lit Hero is 0.7 mm taller and 7 g heavier than the GoPro Hero. Likewise, they pair share a 1/2.8-inch CMOS sensor with an f/2.3 aperture and 15 mm equivalent focal length that can shoot 12 MP stills.
One notable change is support for 4K/60 FPS video capture though; previously, the GoPro Hero peaked at 30 FPS when shooting in 4K. Moreover, the Lit Hoer can capture slow-motion footage, of which the GoPro Hero is not capable. On top of that, GoPro has installed an LED light to improve low-light image quality.
The GoPro Lit Hero can be ordered from today for $269.99 in the US. In other words, the Lit Hero is $70 and 35% more expensive than the GoPro Hero. Currently, GoPro estimates that it will begin shipping pre-orders 'on or before' October 21.
