Dreame showcased its Leaptic Cube, a new action camera designed for versatile filming setups due to its detachable 8K camera module, at this year's CES, now over.
The camera module uses a 50-megapixel, 1/1.3-inch sensor that has up to 13.5 stops of dynamic range. It uses an f/2.8 lens with a field-of-view of 155-degrees. The detached camera unit can be used up to 30 meters (98 feet) away from the body while transmitting video over its ProSync wireless connection for up to 90 minutes, according to the company.
The body has a 2.27-inch LCD touchscreen for controlling the camera. When the camera is docked on the body facing away from or toward the user, the Leaptic Cube has a rated runtime of up to 200 minutes. Inside the Leaptic Cube, a 4 nm AI CPU is used to apply AI natural beauty, scene optimization, subject tracking, and audio enhancement technologies to the captured images and videos.
The camera also has Moko, an on-board AI voice assistant that can change settings and control the camera based on spoken commands, even those commands spoken without precise phrasing. Hand gestures can also be used to control the Leaptic Cube.
Videos can be saved to the built-in 64/128 GB internal storage, or to an optional microSD card up to 1 TB in size, in 10-bit P-Log format to retain more color information in HDR videos for post-processing.
Readers can sign up at the Leaptic website to be notified of its availability and pricing. Readers who want a similar action camera to use right away might consider the DJI Osmo Nano available on Amazon.
