The action camera market is heating up again after a period of relative calm. While we await the launch of the long-awaited GoPro Max 2, DJI has already got its alternative out the door, which it sells as the Osmo 360. To combat both 360-degree action cameras, Insta360 recently refreshed the existing X5 with a new Satin White option (curr. $549.99 on Amazon).
Now, the latter has confirmed that a second, smaller action camera is on its way to market. For the time being, Insta360 has not mentioned the name of the camera it plans to release. Instead, it has given a brief look at the device in its first promotional video, which we have embedded below.
Also, it has outlined that the camera will debut this Thursday, August 21. Moreover, Insta360 has revealed that its launch event will commence at 13:00 UTC, after which we suspect it will open pre-orders. Based on recent leaks, the camera in question is the Insta360 Go Ultra, which effectively succeeds the Go 3S and should be only slightly larger than the DJI Action 2. With that being said, the Go Ultra will also serve to rival the upcoming DJI Osmo Action 6 and GoPro's next Hero action camera release too. Please see the video below and Insta360's teaser website for more information.
