Leaker details next-gen flagship smartphone cameras with new 200 MP and 1-inch style sensors tipped

Digital Chat Station has weighed on the state of smartphone camera sensors going forward as we enter the latter part of 2025. According to the leaker, upwards of four new high-resolution sensors will grace future flagship models to rival successors to the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Galaxy S25 Ultra (curr. $972 on Amazon).

Apparently, Omnivision OV50X leads the charge with a 1-inch type optical format, a 50 MP native output and 1.6-µm wide pixels. Additionally, Kartikey Singh reports that the OV50X may debut in the Xiaomi 16 Ultra; please see our OV50X launch article from earlier this year for more details about Omnivision's recent 1-inch type sensor.

Moreover, Digital Chat Station reiterates that the rumoured Samsung ISOCELL S5KHPE combines a 1/1.4-inch optical format with a 200 MP output, 4-in-1 pixel binning, 0.56 μm wide-pixels and ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace loss digital zoom. Reportedly, Sony is set to deliver a rival 200 MP sensor too, albeit one with an optical format that surpasses the ISOCELL S5KHPE at 1/1.1-inches.

Meanwhile, Digital Chat Station also mentions '5A6', a mysterious sensor whose manufacturer the leaker has decided against revealing. A 50 MP sensor, the 5A6 is said to showcase new lateral overflow integration capacitor (LOFIC+++) technology for the purpose of improving low-light performance. Digital Chat Station implies that the 5A6 will outperform the ISOCELL HP7 in this regard; Samsung has not officially unveiled the ISOCELL HP7 yet though, despite rumours emerging about it roughly two years ago.
