Osmo Action 5 Pro: DJI releases GoPro Hero 13 Black rival with better battery life, larger displays and an upgraded camera
DJI has now delivered its alternative to the Hero 13 Black, which GoPro released earlier this month. As expected, DJI continues to equip its action camera with a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor. However, the sensor size alone does not tell the whole story. Specifically, the Osmo Action 5 Pro can capture images at 40 MP, a four-fold increase on the capabilities of the Osmo Action 4 (curr. $269 on Amazon).
Moreover, the Osmo Action 5 Pro is said to provide 13.5 f-stops of dynamic range, which DJI claims is industry-leading. Added to that, DJI's new action camera can record videos at 4K and 120 FPS or 1080p and 240 FPS to create slow-motion effects. Furthermore, the Osmo Action 5 Pro supports HorizonSteady, RockSteady 3.0 and SuperNight modes for improved image stabilisation and lowlight image quality.

On top of that, DJI has included larger OLED displays this time around, which it states also get 33% brighter than those in the Osmo Action 4. Allegedly, the adoption of a 4 nm chipset and a 1,950 mAh battery combine to provide up to four hours of usage between charges too. Incidentally, DJI has equipped the Osmo Action 5 Pro with 47 GB of internal storage, unlike its predecessor. The new action camera still supports MicroSD card expansion though; footage can also be transferred via USB 3.0 at 80 MB/s or Wi-Fi 6 when necessary
The Osmo Action 5 Pro is now orderable across multiple markets. As usual, DJI has decided to offer several combo packages that it has customised for specific use cases like diving, road cycling and hiking to name but a few. For reference, the action camera starts at $349 with the camera itself, as well as a battery, a mount and a protective frame. Please see DJI's website for further details.
