Both DJI and GoPro have released new action cameras this month. For reference, while the former is now offering the Osmo Action 5 Pro, the latter presented the Hero 13 Black and the cheaper Hero (curr. $199.99 on Amazon). It seems that Insta360 is not far behind with a new release either, though.
To recap, early details about the Ace Pro 2 emerged online at the start of the month courtesy of hands-on leaks. Now, several sources have shared a first look at retail packaging, evidence of which we have embedded below. Seemingly, Insta360 intends to lean heavily on the camera's 8K video recording capabilities, which both the Hero 13 Black and Osmo Action 5 Pro lack.

Added to that, the leaked retail packaging confirms that the Ace Pro 2 will top out at 30 FPS when set to 8K with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Moreover, the same image implies that the camera will last upwards of 3 hours between charges when recording at 8K/30 FPS. As a result, it will need to drop its resolution to provide smoother 60 FPS footage.
However, it is unclear whether the Action Pro 2 will achieve this at 4K like its predecessor or beyond at a higher resolution like 5.3K. Likewise, the claim that the Action Pro 2 is an 'AI-Powered Action Cam' implies that Insta360 may use certain algorithmic tools to enhance image quality in one way or another. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when the Ace Pro 2 will be available yet either, nor for how much.
