Insta360 Ace and Ace Pro launch as new action cameras with big camera sensors and 16:9 flip-up viewfinders
Insta360 has now released the Ace and Ace Pro, its alternatives to the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and GoPro Hero 12 Black. As expected, Insta360 has distinguished its new action cameras in a few areas, although both measure 71.9 x 52.15 x 38.5 mm. However, the Ace Pro is a few grams heavier than the Ace (179.8 g vs. 176.8 g), despite having a nominally smaller battery.
Specifically, Insta360 equips the Ace with a 1,700 mAh battery, 50 mAh more than the 1,650 mAh cell in the Ace Pro. Inversely, the latter can recharge about a third faster than the former (46 minutes/70 minutes), thanks to support for 30 W fast charging. Both cameras are rated for 1:30 hours usage when recording at 4K/30 FPS 'in a laboratory environment at 25°C with AI Highlights Assistant off', though.

Additionally, the pair feature different camera sensors. According to Insta360, the Ace utilises a 1/2-inch and 48 MP sensor that has an f/2.4 aperture and a 16 mm equivalent focal length. While the Ace Pro's camera outputs at 48 MP and has a 16 mm equivalent focal length, it also has a larger 1/1.3-inch optical format but a narrower f/2.6 aperture. Moreover, the Ace Pro can record in up to 8K/24 FPS, with Insta360 restricting the Ace to 6K/24 FPS. Incidentally, both cameras must drop to 4K to record at 60 FPS or 120 FPS to create slow motion footage.
The Ace and Ace Pro are orderable now in multiple markets, including the US. At launch, the pair start at US$379.99 and US$449.99, respectively, both with flip-up viewfinders. As usual, Insta360 also offers various accessory packages, such as the Creator Kit and GPS-Ready Kit with the company's GPS Preview Remote. Please see Insta360's website for more details.
