GoPro Premium Plus debuts alongside Quik for macOS

GoPro has announced that it has rebranded its current subscription to Premium, which has also now sprouted a new Plus variant. The latter offers all of the same features as the former, with an added 'pro-grade' video stabilization tool and extra added cloud storage. The action-cam OEM's Quik for Macs has finally been released alongside it.

GoPro has just revealed that, while it made a total of $1 billion in 2023, its net profits were -$53 million (compared to $29 million for 2022). Then again, it also made a total of $97 million (+18% year-on-year) from its subscription model, which is why the OEM might have just launched its new expansion.

Accordingly, the current "GoPro subscription" has been converted to the OEM's Premium tier of services. overshadowed by a new Premium+ upgrade.

It entails all of the "benefits" of its predecessor, live-streaming support; possible exclusive camera or accessory discounts on gopro.com; and the guaranteed replacement of devices such as the HERO12 Black included, but with added access to HyperSmooth Pro stabilization for video and 500GB of cloud storage that connects to any camera, whereas the existing Premium unlimited cloud is for GoPro hardware only.

The OEM values that "advanced creator"-focused upgrade at $99.99 per year, as opposed to $49.99 (or $24.99 for new subscribers) per year for the typical Premium tier.

GoPro Premium and Premium+ also support sync across all versions of Quik, which finally includes the new macOS version. with the promised counterpart for Windows to follow "later this year".

The HERO12 Black: now available at $409.99, or $40 less than usual, right now on Amazon.
