GoPro Hero: New pocket-sized action camera leaks along with rumoured release date
Details of a completely new GoPro action camera has leaked online alongside equivalent information about the Hero 13 Black. Please note that the information contained below is said to originate from an Amazon US listing that has since now been removed. As such, we are currently unable to verify the authenticity of the images and specifications listed below.
There is no reason to suggest at this stage that any of the images are fake or have been doctored, though. For context, there have been suggestions that GoPro was preparing a second-generation MAX camera; GoPro also teased as much last September. While this could still be true, a MAX 2.0 camera may arrive with two other GoPro action cameras this year, not just the Hero 13 Black.
Based on the images provided by TechstoriesIndia, this previously unknown device resembles a successor to the ageing Hero 11 Black Mini (curr. $249 on Amazon). Described as the smallest 4K-capable GoPro ever, the 'GoPro Hero' is said to support HyperSmooth stabilisation and slow motion video recordings too, while also maintaining 5 ATM water resistance. On top of that, GoPro has included its usual set of 'dual-mounting fingers' for use with existing mounting accessories.
Moreover, the GoPro Hero has a sizeable heatsink instead of a front-mounted display, presumably to reduce the chance of overheating occurring. Allegedly, GoPro will release the Hero on September 16, which is also the rumoured launch day for the larger Hero 13 Black. Pricing and technical specifications have not leaked yet, though.
