GoPro is likely still a few days away from officially unveiling its next action cameras. In the meantime, a reliable leaker has shared more details about the GoPro Hero 13 Black, which appears set to be another re-run of the Hero 12 Black in many areas.

Roughly a fortnight has passed since the first concrete details about GoPro's next action camera leaked online. Incidentally, the same leak suggested that GoPro may have a cheaper alternative in development this year, on top of a second-generation MAX camera that it teased last year.

This time, Igor Bogdanov has shared a slew of Hero Black 13-related content on X (formerly Twitter) and how it differs from the current Hero 12 Black (curr. $299 on Amazon). On top of that, the leaker drew comparisons with the Action 5 Pro, a forthcoming competitor from DJI. With that being said, little is known about the latter yet, let alone when it will be officially released. Instead, DJI is focusing on a new drone ahead of its launch next week.

At any rate, it seems that the Hero 13 Black will arrive sporting the same 27 MP camera as last year's model. Moreover, the camera is said to top out at 5.3K and 60 FPS, with 120 FPS achieved by dropping its resolution to 4K. Furthermore, it appears as though GoPro will carry over HyperSmooth 6.0 from the Hero 12 Black, as well as its HDR capabilities.

However, Bogdanov alleges that GoPro will include a 1,900 mAh battery this time around that should extend battery life to 1.5 hours when recording at 4K/30 or 5.3K/30 and 3 hours if the camera's resolution is reduced to 1080p. On top of that, the Hero 13 Black will ship with new Macro and Ultra Wide lenses that will provide 4x zoom and 177° shots, respectively. Supposedly, the latter will be capable of making adjustments automatically, too. In other words, it looks as though GoPro will primarily distinguish the Hero 13 Black from its predecessor mainly on its accessories, along with its improved heat dissipation capabilities.
