MagyarInsta360 X4: New 8K and 360-degree action camera revealed by leaked images, specifications and launch pricing
Igor Bogdanov (@Quadro_News) has turned his attention to revealing details about the Insta360 X4, having been one of the sources for many recent DJI Avata 2 and RS 4 series leaks. To recap, Insta360 posted a teaser for its 'next camera' yesterday, which we have covered separately. In short, the company's promotional video appeared to show an Insta360 X3 successor that could capture footage at 8K and 30 FPS.
Based on the images that @Quadro_News has shared, Insta360's next camera hardly changes visually. As far as we can tell, Insta360 has added a microphone hole beneath the X4's camera. Nonetheless, the Insta360 X4 is said to weigh 203 g, which would be 23 g heavier than its predecessor. Moreover, @Quadro_News claims that the new action camera measures 123 x 46 x 26.3 mm, compared to 114 x 46 x 33.1 mm for the Insta360 X3.
Thus, the Insta360 X4 is taller but thinner than its predecessor while maintaining its 46 mm width. Reportedly, the upcoming action camera not only supports 8K/30 FPS output but also 5.7K at 60 FPS or 4K at 100 FPS. The Insta360 X4 is expected to maintain 18 MP or 72 MP outputs when capturing 360-degree shots, though. @Quadro_News adds that an f/1.9 aperture remains too, as does its 6.7 mm equivalent focal length.
However, Insta360 has increased its battery capacity from 1,800 mAh to 2,290 mAh (8.82 Wh). As a result, the Insta360 X4 should be capable of capturing up to 70 minutes of 8K recordings with a 200 Mbps bit rate. Alternatively, the action camera is rumoured to last upwards of 100 minutes when dropping the resolution to 5.7K. Allegedly, the Insta360 X4 will arrive on April 16 costing about as much as its predecessor, which Insta360 initially priced at $449.99.
