DJI releases new RS 4 and RS 4 Pro camera gimbals with improved stabilisation features and other refinements
DJI has now released a new set of camera gimbals following a short teaser campaign. For context, the company confirmed that it would be unveiling new devices today during a 'Focus on the Vision' event. Subsequently, various leakers obtained pre-launch information about the RS 4 and RS 4 Pro, which also applies to the Avata 2 drone that will debut later this week.
As expected, DJI has made numerous improvements with the RS 4 series to distinguish it from its RS 3 predecessors. For example, the RS 4 and RS 4 Pro both benefit from DJI's 4th Gen RS stabilisation algorithm, although only the latter supports the company's 2nd Gen LiDAR multi-point focusing system. Moreover, the RS 4 series integrates 2nd Gen automated axis locks, which the RS 3 series lacks. RS 3 series features like an 1.8-inch OLED parameter setting screen return though, as do NATO, RSA and charging adapter ports.
The RS 4 series starts at $549 for the standard RS 4 as a standalone unit. By contrast, DJI sells the technically superior RS 4 Pro for a minimum of $869. Alternatively, the pair are available with 'Combo' packages for $719 and $1,099, respectively, which add a Ronin Image Transmitter, a Focus Pro Motor and a Phone Holder, among other accessories. Please see DJI's website for more information. Incidentally, the company has also released the Focus Pro today, full details of which we have covered separately.
